Conduct
As a student you are expected to conduct yourself, both on and off the training areas, in a manner which demonstrates respect for Archimedes, your training company and its staff, fellow students and property, and for other members of the local community in general. Archimedes places great emphasis on the good behaviour of its students and has a formal procedure for dealing with serious cases of misconduct. For this purpose Archimedes has developed some rules for student conduct and the following provides a substantive but not exhaustive list of activities which Archimedes regards as constituting misconduct. These are:
Any breach of Archimedes Ordinances or Regulations or Codes of Practice, including the Regulations for the Conduct of Examinations;
Substantial obstruction or interference with the functions, duties or legitimate activities of any student or member of staff of Archimedes, or any visitor to Archimedes sites;
Violent, indecent, disorderly, threatening, intimidating or offensive behaviour or language (whether expressed orally, in writing or electronically, including blogs, social networking websites and other electronic means);
Distribution or publication of a poster, notice, sign or any publication including audio-visual material, blog or webpage, which is offensive, intimidating, threatening, indecent or illegal;
Any behaviour which could constitute discrimination or harassment on the grounds of sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender re-assignment, race, religion, disability or age of any student or member of staff of Archimedes, honorary staff, recognised teacher or any visitor to Archimedes;
Fraud, deceit, deception or dishonesty in relation to Archimedes or its staff, students or visitors;
Bribery or attempted bribery including but not limited to offering or giving money, gifts or any other advantage to any student or employee of Archimedes, honorary staff, recognised teacher or any visitor to Archimedes with the intention of inducing that person to perform his/her role improperly or of rewarding that person for performing his/her role improperly;
Misrepresentation or falsification of pre-entry qualifications, previous study, work experience, or personal statement which emerges post-admission to a programme of study;
Failure to inform Archimedes using the prescribed procedures of receiving, whilst registered on a programme of study, a Police caution, charge or conviction (convictions for a motoring offence for which a fine and a maximum penalty of three points are imposed are excluded);
Theft, misappropriation, unauthorised use or misuse of Archimedes property, or the property of its students, staff or visitors whilst on Archimedes premises or engaged in Archimedes business;
Falsification of student attendance records, using either manual or electronic systems;
The sharing of files and/or information, whether publicly or privately, which could result in duplication, plagiarism or fraud;
Misuse of computers or the communications network, including the unauthorised use of Archimedes’ logo or name, or any breach of Archimedes’ policy on the use of its information systems, including social media;
Intentional or reckless damage or defacement to Archimedes property or the property of students, staff or visitors whilst on Archimedes premises or engaged in Archimedes business;
Action which may cause injury or jeopardise the safety of others whilst on Archimedes premises or engaged in Archimedes business;
Unauthorised possession or use on Archimedes premises or whilst engaged in Archimedes business of any firearm or dangerous weapon;
Unauthorised or inappropriate use, whilst on Archimedes premises or whilst engaged in Archimedes business, of sporting equipment;
Unauthorised use or occupation of Archimedes premises;
Any breach of an Archimedes Tenancy Agreement;
Failure to provide proof of identity when requested to do so;
The possession, sale, supply or the use or misuse of any controlled drug on Archimedes premises;
Failure to comply with any punishment imposed as a result of Archimedes’ disciplinary procedures or contempt of those procedures;
Any conduct which may be discreditable to Archimedes or may bring Archimedes into disrepute.
In particular, you should note that Archimedes’ disciplinary jurisdiction over students’ conduct is not limited to that exercised solely on Archimedes premises or solely within course time.  This means, for example, that the Regulations for the Conduct of Examinations apply to those run at an Archimedes site, that your behaviour off site and during vacations, weekends, evenings on placements and field trips may be taken into consideration.  It also means that your behaviour in a social setting (for example in Archimedes residences, or on social media) may have consequences for their academic progress on their programme of study whether or not it takes place during normal Archimedes opening hours.
Plagiarism

Plagiarism is a form of cheating and is a serious academic offence. It arises where work submitted by a learner is not their own and has been taken from another source. The original material is then hidden from the marker, either by not referencing it properly, by paraphrasing it or by not mentioning it at all.
The most common forms of plagiarism are but not limited to:
cut/copy and pasted material from the Web
copying the work of another learner (past or present) including essay material, laboratory data or computer source code
copying course material or lecture notes
copying material out of a textbook or journal

Plagiarism may occur in a number of other forms, as well as in conventional written work. Another learner may be involved, or the plagiarism may arise from the misuse of sources outside the Forest Schools Education’s learning and support materials.
The key is proper attribution of source material. None of the activities listed above is, of itself, necessarily wrong.
Plagiarism is a serious matter for the Forest Schools Education qualification. If not dealt with, it will ultimately devalue all Forest Schools Education courses to the detriment of both learners and the Forest Schools Education community. It also introduces a fundamental and inevitable distortion when the work of a learner cohort is being assessed. This, in turn, is likely to lead to the undetected plagiarist obtaining better marks and a better degree than a learner who is playing by the rules.
As an individual learner you have signed to declare that all you work is both original and your own. Forest Schools Education has sophisticated tools that will detect plagiarism. Where plagiarism has occurred, the learner will fail the course without recourse to appeal or re-apply for training with Forest Schools Education Limited.
